The Company

L&M was born out of the experience its directors acquired during their involvement in a range of specialized projects with large consulting companies. We entered the mining sector in 1999 when working on the feasibility study of a project of Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (VALE), and since then we have performed economic feasibility analysis for a range of projects in the sector. During this period we have accumulated considerable experience and knowledge relating to the development of large-scale projects.

With the high levels of investment in Brazil between 1995 and 1999, we had the opportunity to contribute to a number of studies relating to the location of new plants for major national and multinational groups. These studies involved economic business modelling, with emphasis on logistical and tax variables, including tax incentives at all levels of government, and additionally, analytic modelling of the qualitative variables of the project and its relationship with the socio-economic environment in which it is inserted.

The company has also completed more than 40 studies for medium and large scale businesses, with the aim of identifying opportunities to reduce the direct and indirect tax burden, based on current legislation. A strength of L&M is that the economic valuation prepared by the company provides quantitative support for the planning solutions we present, information that is highly relevant in the decision making process.

We have performed more than 50 purely economic studies, for a range of purposes, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic, financial and corporate restructuring of companies, and acquiring financing.

L&M is a member of GDmining, an association of Brazilian companies and specialist professionals with vast experience in areas relevant to the development of a mining venture. While the association allows total autonomy for all its participants, synergy lies in the complementary nature of the skills of its members, and their common goal of facilitating mining ventures through competitive costing.
