A mechanical engineer, with a post graduate qualification in Business Administration (CEAG-FGV), a M.Sc. in Accounting and Financial Management from EAESP-Fundação Getúlio Vargas and a MBA in Financial Engineering from the Polytechnic School of USP. He has 23 years of experience in administrative and financial areas and is currently managing director of L&M Business Consulting. He has been working in the mining sector since 1999, developing economic feasibility analyses for large scale investment projects in Brazil and abroad. In his previous role, as a director of Trevisan Consultores de Empresas he developed more than 60 studies for businesses from a range of economic sectors, focusing on the financial evaluation of companies, economic-financial restructuring, value-based management, economic modelling, and tax planning and development of costing systems. He has worked with clients such as VALE, Salobo Metais, Mineração Onça-Puma, CSV-Baosteel, Forbes Manhattan, Ferrous Resources, Phelps Dodge, Xstrata, London Mining, Newgold, Aura Minerals, Rio Novo Gold, Sadia, Volkswagen do Brasil, Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, AmBev, ANIP (National Association of Tire Manufacturers) and ABIR (Brazilian Association of Soft Drink Manufacturers).

Carlos Alberto Maria

Holds Bachelor degree in Accounting with a post-graduate qualification in Tax Law and Accounting and Financial Management. Has more than 20 years of experience in tax, having worked with many major national and international companies, and has a comprehensive knowledge of Brazilian legislation and business tax procedures. He has been working in the mining sector since 1999, developing economic feasibility analyses for large scale investment projects in Brazil and abroad. In his previous roles as director at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (2000) and partner at Trevisan Consultores de Empresas (1995-2000) he developed more than 70 studies for companies operating in a range of economic sectors, focusing on the creation of special tax planning studies, analysis and negotiation of tax incentives for the implementation of new projects, and the preparation of Protocols of Intent with state and local government and their local authorities. His main clients have included VALE, Salobo Metais, Mineração Onça-Puma, Forbes Manhattan, Ferrous Resources, Phelps Dodge, Xstrata, Aura Minerals, Rio Novo Gold, Sadia, Volkswagen do Brasil, Honda Motors, Natura Cosméticos Ltda, Nokia – Gradiente, Águas São Lourenço, SP Coffee Industry Union, HP do Brasil, Pirelli, IBM do Brasil, and ABIR (Brazilian Association of Soft Drink Manufacturers).

André Maialy

Consultant

A Mechanical Production Engineer, with a M.Sc. and PhD in Control Engineering applied to quantitative finance from the Polytechnic School of USP. Has 15 years of experience in the financial market, having worked in institutions such as Banco ABN AMRO, Votorantim Asset, GWI and Fidúcia in the areas of risk management, cash flow, product structuring, investment managing and quantitative modelling. Currently works as a consultant for L&M and is the partner responsible for the Business Modeling division of MAPS, which operates in the areas of Corporate Finance and Risk Management. The main projects he has developed include: financial modelling and analysis and risk analysis of a sugar and ethanol plant (agricultural and industrial sectors); of a Wind power plant; of an oceanic construction project for petroleum processing, of a logistics company, and of civil construction projects. He is a CFA Charterholder and a professor of post-graduation and Masters Courses in corporate finance, valuation, quantitative finance and derivatives at the Polytechnic school of USP and the School of Economics of the Fundação Getúlio Vargas in São Paulo.
